Smart Dealer Green Car - Government Guidelines

41Green vehicles are cars include electric and hybrid vehicles, fuel cell automobiles, and cars that move on E85 ethanol. As part of his advocacy to help protect the environment. President Barrack Obama urges the government to start buying green designs or electric vehicles so that by the year 2015, there will be around 1 million electric vehicles driven around. Last year, there were around twenty three thousand green cars bought by the Obama administration. Two years ago, President Obama encouraged all government personnel to use alternative fuels like ethanol in their cars, if possible.

President Obama has furthermore promised that by 2025, there will be a decrease in oil imports by around 34%. His administration, through the Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory, has asked Google to give an updated list of charging stations all over the world so that users of green cars will know the locations of these stations. President Obama will also provide a funding of $5 million for local governments and private companies to build more charging stations so as to attract car manufacturers to build more electric cars.

Green cars are less expensive than vehicles powered by combustion. They also help protect the environment because they use electricity to run instead of fuel like diesel, propane and gas. They are easier to maintain as they do not need liquids such as oil and transmission fluid. Fuel and oil leaks can therefore be avoided. They do not emit any harmful pollutant therefore preserving the environment and people's health.

The engine of electric vehicles is also quieter than the regular cars, in fact EV's are nearly silent. Noise pollution is therefore lessened. Combustion-powered cars, when ignited, release a noisy sound and emit smoke from its tailpipes. Green cars are not guilty of this. Because they need electricity to run, they can be charged during night time when the overall requirement of people for electricity is at its lowest level. This means that there will be enough electricity to use for charging.

With electric green cars, there will be no need, therefore, to use oil; thus, the disposal of engine oils at various sites will be lessened and the government will no longer depend on other countries for their oil needs.

These government efforts come at a necessary time when the environment and people's health are endangered partly due to harmful emissions of carbon monoxide, nitrates of oxygen and carbon dioxide caused by petroleum. Carbon monoxide decreases the human body's capability to take in oxygen thus leaving the cells and vital organs lacking enough oxygen to function. When more than 100 mg/l of nitrate is mixed in water, this can cause harmful effects to the health of babies as this can cause "blue baby" disease. As for carbon dioxide, it can be harmful to the health when inhaled because it deprives the brain, the heart and other vital organs of oxygen. Green cars, on the other hand, have zero emissions.

In his commitment to environmental preservation, President Obama will only provide bailout funds to car companies if they plan to use the money to build more green cars. He has denied two car manufacturers of such funds when they submitted proposals that did not dwell on the production of more green cars.
